Working Families
The issues facing working families need to be addressed by government and important to me. Beginning with access to affordable housing and livable wages Our nation's backbone is our workers and their ability to care for their families.
Workforce housing
Local governments and developers are the driving force for what type of house are built throughout Virginia, but the state can legislate incentives to ensure that there are affordable homes in livable communities close to their workplace. Building communities with mixed styles of homes and walkable access to shops rather than large sub-divisions of a single size of houses.
Family leave
The core to any family is the desire to care for one another, yet in Virginia it's mostly up to the employer to determine your time-off. All workers need access to a paid family and medical leave social insurance program to ensure they can take up to 12 paid weeks per year away from work to care for themselves or a loved one or to welcome a new child.
